When most people get into the network marketing business they do it out of hope or desperation or even excitement! It’s always an emotional decision, if it wasn’t most would not join or would quit when they find out how much work, time, and dedication is involved and most of the time demanded.
Unfortunately, this industry is pursued by people who have never been business owners!
The skills necessary for success in network marketing are completely foreign to them and they rely on their up line for insight, witch is normal, that’s ok you should ask them questions. What happens if you’re up line doesn’t know the answer to your question?
You always get referred to the same old marketing strategies, the belly to belly selling that works fine offline. Well times have changed and our industry is changing more and more every year. So what do you have to do to keep up with the changes? Well to put it as simple as I can you have to educate yourself, make sure you know more than your competitor. The more information you can acquire and retain the more value you hold.
Here is my fear and why I try not to work with people that are brand new and very excited. What goes up must come down! Most people that start a network marketing business quit within 90-200 days of starting. Why? They run out of excitement and money. They run out of excitement and money because they can’t sponsor anyone into their business. This is strictly because they are selling their business and not their selves. People follow people not businesses people join people not businesses. People follow leaders not followers. Most find that getting a no over the phone kind of hurts it’s emotional for them because 9 times out of 10 they have to make a sale or they have to make some money to stay in the business. You can not run a business check to check you will not get any where you have to get to a point beyond that to really see any kind of result or pleasure. The number 1 reason people do network marketing is because they need more money! What they don’t seem to know about is that it takes money to make money and if you don’t have money to begin with you are heading for disaster a slow painful debt adding death of your business! What also goes is your mindset you will spend a lot of time thinking that you failed when really you just went to school you have just paid for knowledge. You know what you’re not going to do again! Or at least you think you do! It all would have been easier if someone would have told you that you should really not be selling your business! You have to brand yourself as a leader first then the followers will follow! Ask yourself why do collages even exist its because they have knowledge that allows you to get something you want and you will pay for it even if you are unsure it will work. Collages are not really selling education they are selling you a path to get what you really want! A good job! Knowledge is power and if you have it you’re on top! If you don’t well you just fall back inline with everyone else who think they know what’s going on because they have a few meetings under their belt and maybe a few sales generated by family and friends. What really happens to you when you’re family quits buying your stuff? Where do you turn, who should you ask to buy what you’re selling? Those are the wrong questions the right ones are: what can I offer to my prospect? How much value do I really bring to the table? How do I market my value to the people that could use it?
Why do you continue to just go with what someone else says? Dig deeper find out how they found that info and go even further learning all you can and finally you will get to a point where you know enough that it just starts spilling out of you and you start to help people even when you don’t think you are.
My point to all of this is that at some point you are going to need help with marketing your business and the same is true for every other new business owner out there, they just simply run out of knowledge! The more knowledge you have on any given topic the more you can help someone on that topic. Once you help a few people the word gets out and bam you’re now a leader. This is when people come to you! You now have followers! You also have a chance to pass on other types of services and products to your followers. It’s easy for you to get them to buy what your selling now because they believe in you and know that your just helping them get what they really want a thriving business!
